World Stroke Day

STROKE is a condition in which, as a result of the cessation of blood flow to the brain due to blockage of an artery or the outpouring of blood through a rupture of the vessel wall, nerve cells are damaged or killed; this is a rapidly developing violation of cerebral circulation, with simultaneous damage to brain tissue and disruption of its functions.

CAUSES OF STROKE
The main cause of stroke is a violation of cerebral circulation. Blood flow to the brain is blocked completely or partially.
Stroke symptoms develop very rapidly.
The flow of blood to the brain areas may stop for the following reasons:
✔ A blood clot, a blood clot, clogs the artery that feeds the brain;
✔ hemorrhage occurs inside the brain;
There is a hemorrhage in the space between the brain and the skull.
If the cause of the disease was a blood clot, then it is an ischemic stroke, if the hemorrhage is hemorrhagic.

RISK FACTORS FOR STROKE:
✔ high blood pressure
✔ diabetes mellitus
✔ elevated cholesterol levels
✔ overweight and obesity
✔ low physical activity
✔ Smoking
✔ excessive alcohol consumption

WHAT WILL PREVENT DISEASES OF THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM, including STROKE?
✔ timely passing of preventive medical examinations and medical examination
✔ Blood pressure monitoring
✔ correction of risk factors (quitting smoking, moderate consumption or abstinence from alcohol, maintaining a normal body weight, balanced diet, regular exercise)
✔ knowledge of the signs of stroke and the order of independent actions and actions surrounding in case of their occurrence
✔ activation of independent health care
