Within the framework of World Breastfeeding Week, held under the motto “Filling in the gaps: ensure universal support for breastfeeding”, consultations on breastfeeding were held at polyclinic number two.
Breastfeeding is not only nutrition, but also a strong emotional bond between mom and baby. In the first months of life – a critical period for growth and development – the antibodies contained in breast milk provide protection to the infant from diseases, including life-threatening ones. Breastfeeding is of particular importance in emergency situations, as it is a safe and affordable source of nutrition for infants and young children. Breastfeeding reduces the burden of childhood diseases, as well as the risk of developing certain cancers and noncommunicable diseases in mothers.
