Human papillomavirus

HPV, the human papillomavirus, is a widespread virus in the world that can be transmitted from one person to another through sexual contact and can contribute to the development of certain types of cancer.
HPV causes cancer of the cervix, throat, including the base of the tongue and tonsils, female and male genitalia. Cervical cancer, ranking second among malignant neoplasms of the reproductive system, ranks first among the causes of cancer mortality in women.
Cancer develops very slowly and can be diagnosed after many years or even decades after initial infection with the virus. Currently, there is no way to know who will have only a temporary HPV infection, and who will develop warts or cancer after acquiring HPV.
Despite the fact that HPV is a very common infection in men, they develop genital cancer much less often than women.
Anyone can get infected with papillomavirus. HPV can be transmitted even if an infected person has no visible signs or symptoms.
Cervical cancer (cervical cancer) is a malignant neoplasm of the cervix, one of the main causes of death in young women, the average age of the deceased is 45 years. If the disease is diagnosed at an early stage, then most women can be effectively treated.
Primary prevention is the prevention of HPV infection. To do this, it is necessary to use means that prevent infection, increase sexual culture and vaccination.
Secondary prevention is the early diagnosis (or screening) of benign cervical diseases and precancerous diseases (dysplasia or CIN).
Cervical dysplasia transforms into cancer only after 5 years or more, so timely diagnosis and proper treatment make it 100% possible to avoid the development of the oncological process.*
Cervical screening is organized to prevent breast cancer. This is a cytological smear taken from the surface of the cervix, which allows you to identify the disease at the precancerous or early stage of cancer. Treatment of breast cancer at an early stage preserves not only life, but also reproductive function in women who want to give birth to a child.
